Apple Watch Series 12 vs 11: the design is familiar, but the inside changes. Apple says the new Health Sensing System measures heart rate every five seconds, all day, and heart rate variability up to 24 times more often. A new Readiness score from 0 to 10 combines activity, training load, vitals and sleep to suggest whether to recover or push. It moves to the S11 chip, and 15 minutes of charging now gives up to 12 hours of use.
Apple rates battery life at up to 24 hours of normal use, 38 hours in Low Power Mode and up to 10 hours of outdoor workouts. It is water resistant to 50 m (swimproof), IP6X dust resistant, and keeps ECG, Blood Oxygen, the temperature sensor and Sleep score. It comes in 42mm and 46mm, in aluminum, titanium and — new this year — ceramic.
