Who is responsible

This is a personal site operated by Ian Giroux. The person in charge of the protection of personal information is Ian Giroux, reachable via the Contact page.

Information collected

When you use the contact form, we collect your name, email address, subject, and message content. No other personal information is actively collected on this site.

Why we collect it

This information is used solely to respond to your message. It is never sold or used for marketing purposes without your explicit consent.

Your consent

By submitting the contact form, you consent to the collection and use of this information for the purposes described above. You may withdraw this consent at any time by contacting us.

Third-party services used

This site relies on the following third-party services, which may process certain technical data:

• Web3Forms — routes contact form messages to our inbox; does not retain message content beyond delivery.
• Google Fonts — loads the site's display fonts; may collect your IP address at load time.
• Google Analytics 4 — measures site traffic (page views, referral source, device) with an anonymized IP address and no advertising features. As required by section 8.1 of Québec's Law 25, it is off by default and only turns on if you click “Accept” in the banner. Your choice is stored in your browser for 12 months and can be changed at any time with the “Manage cookies” link at the bottom of every page. Data is processed by Google, possibly outside Québec. Regardless of that choice, when you click an Amazon link the site sends our server a simple signal (product and page), with no cookie and without keeping your IP address; this anonymous count is passed on to Google Analytics.
• Saily (affiliate program via Impact) — the “Get Saily” link goes through iangiroux.com/go/saily: our server records the time, the referring page and the browser type, without your IP address. Saily and Impact may then set their own tracking cookies on their site.
• Amazon Associates Program — links to Amazon on this site are affiliate links that may set tracking cookies belonging to Amazon when you visit their site.

Retention

Messages received by email are kept for as long as necessary to respond to them, then deleted or securely archived.

Your rights

You have the right to:

• access the personal information we hold about you;
• have any inaccurate information corrected;
• withdraw your consent to their use;
• file a complaint with the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec if you believe your rights have not been respected.
