What to know about The Game of Life board game

The link leads to The Game of Life by Hasbro Gaming (model F0800), the classic family board game (not Conway's Game of Life, which is a math simulation). It plays 2 to 4, ages 8 and up.

In the box: a gameboard with spinner, 90 cards (55 Action, 20 Career, 11 House and 4 Invest), 4 cars, 36 pegs and a money pack. You spin to move from Start to Retirement. At the beginning you choose college (pay 100K, but unlock better-paying careers) or go straight into a career.

STOP spaces mark big milestones: graduating, getting married, growing your family, retiring early. You collect your salary every time you pass a Payday space, you can buy houses, and you can invest 50K on a spinner number. At the end, sell your houses, collect 50K for each peg in your car (not your own), pay off loans, and the richest player wins.

FAQ

How do you play The Game of Life board game?

Each player picks a car and chooses college or a career. Spin to move, always stop on STOP spaces, and follow each space you land on. Collect your salary at Payday. Once everyone has retired, the player with the most money wins.

How long is The Game of Life board game?

Hasbro doesn't print an official play time. What sets the length is simple: the game ends only when every player has reached Retirement, so more players means a longer game.

Game of Life vs Monopoly: what's the difference?

The Game of Life is for 2 to 4 players ages 8+, runs on a spinner and nobody is knocked out: the richest at retirement wins. Monopoly is for 2 to 6 players ages 8+, uses dice and property trading, and ends when every player but one has gone bankrupt.
